FCCO KINGDOM KIDS

Matthew 19:14 “Let the little Children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Mission Statement:  Assist families in leading kids to a personal relationship with Jesus and helping them to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

What is Kingdom Kids?  It is our comprehensive children’s ministry that serves infants through 6th grade. This includes child care, Children’s Church, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, mid-week Kids’ Club and Holiday Outreach Program.

Last Sunday, 167 eager children and their parents were warmly welcomed at the door by Kingdom Kids greeters.  Using our scanner system to sign in every child at the Information Desk, we have ensured the safety of each child and our accuracy of attendance tracking.

Child Care - Infants, toddlers and preschoolers were excitedly settled in one of their five designated rooms.  One-year old Alyssa was heard exclaiming, “Church! Church! Helen! (nursery volunteer)”.  Preschooler (3-4 year olds) enjoy free and organized playtime, Bible story, prayer, snacks and craft-time. Last week they made a craft for a child who was sick and had missed a few weeks. They particularly enjoy the Bible Cards matching game.

Children’s Church - Our two Children’s Church hours are designed to allow families to worship together during the first half of the worship service.  Then, children in kindergarten through 4th grade are invited to the Kingdom Kids area to experience spiritual nurturing in an exciting, age appropriate manner; through prayer, drama, craft, Bible story, etc.

Sunday School - Each Sunday, preschool through grade 6 children proceed to their assigned activity station where they meet their shepherds and chose an activity of their choice for 20 minutes (i.e., crafts, board games, puzzles, basketball, nerfball, snack, etc).  The children are then taken by their shepherd to one of the 12 workshop areas. Here the presenters teach God’s word through creative Bible teaching, music, and other activities that are appealing to our children and communicate the truth of God’s Word.   The 25 shepherds intentionally help children apply the Bible lesson to their lives and to connect them into community as they work toward character transformation.  Kingdom Kids offers a place a where every child Is individually treasured and valued, Is known and knows others, Is loved and loves others, Is served and serves others.

One mom reported her 8 year old son said “this is my favorite time of the week”.  As we lead children to a personal relationship with Jesus, they are given frequent opportunities to choose to become devoted followers of Christ.  Last Sunday, three children decided to follow Jesus.  Our Children’s Ministry Team rejoiced in this answer to prayer.

Our staff of two full-time paid Children’s Ministry staff and our four part-time volunteer leaders experience ongoing training.  They then lead, train, support and disciple 85 volunteers.

Safety measures led to installing cameras in all the rooms in Kingdom Kids three years ago.  Hall monitors and identification bracelets for the nursery through preschool age children ensure that parents feel comfortable.  In addition to these security measures; references are verified and criminal background checks conducted on volunteers over the age of eighteen.

VBS, the mid-week Kids’ Club, and the Holiday Outreach Program provide entry points for the unchurched as we seek to fulfill our mission statement.
