Masterplan Celebration Remarks by Dave Morgan

June 29, 2005

Tonite is one of those historic occasions in the life of our church.

            1.  First of all, we are celebrating a Decade Marker.  10 years ago this week, our church family voted to move forward.  That might have been the most important vote in FCCO’s 200 year history.

We voted to expand our borders and to reach beyond our local community. We in essence voted to be a regional church.  And part of that decision included a vote to move forward with building the FLC.

            2.  Tonite we are celebrating another important marker in the life of our church.  We are here to celebrate and affirm our desire to once again move forward, this time with a 5 year master plan.  A very forward-looking ambitious 5 year plan that involves all of us.  This document is a fairly comprehensive look at each area of our ministry with specific goals attached to each area.

The Leadership Council and Management Team believe that these goals are attainable, and we also believe it will stretch us beyond our personal capacity to pull off.  We are trusting God to supernaturally empower us as a church family to reach these goals.  He has done that here time and time again.  Would you be praying with us for that?

We believe that this is a plan that was formed under the guidance of God’s Spirit and represents the efforts and now support of a broad base of our leadership.  About 80 men and women have been a part of this 12 week process.

We are ready to put it in its final form, but before we do, we wanted any final input or questions from you.  We’ve given opportunity to the broader church family to give us input on Sunday mornings and over our Web site.  And now, here we are.

I want to turn this part of our gathering over to Jim Cooper, who is the chairman of our Leadership Council and who has led the way on this Master Plan   Would you thank him with me for all of his hard work on this project.
