07-19-2026 - Sunday Service - Hallowed Be Thy Names - ELOHIM - Our God is the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth![]()
Genesis 1:1![]()
Shakespeare famously asked, “What’s in a name?” Modern culture often answers, “Not much.” Scripture, however, gives a very different answer. In the Old Testament, naming a child was much more than picking a pretty word. A name signified the essence, character, or nature of a person.![]()
The same is true of God. Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself through more than one hundred names and descriptive titles. Each name unveils something of His character, His power, and His faithfulness, often emerging in moments when His people needed Him most.![]()
Throughout the rest of this season, we will explore eight of these names, discovering how each one helps us know God more deeply and respond to Him with greater love, trust, and reverence.![]()
We will begin at the very beginning — in Genesis 1:1 — where God first reveals Himself as Elohim, the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth.
