Students in grades 7-12 and their families are invited for a family hike on July 9, and we will hike Green Mountain to the fire tower. We will kick off the hike at 10 am, meeting at the trailhead (directions below). We will hike up and have lunch. Bring your own lunch! It is a carry in/carry out facility, NO GLASS BOTTLES and a leave no trace preserve (High Watch Preserve), so no breaking trees or digging holes. Closed-toe shoes are required. Please bring lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and at least TWO FULL WATER BOTTLES. Anyone who does not have water or closed-toe shoes will be turned away!
Directions: The Green Mountain Fire Tower trailhead is at the very end of Highwatch Road in Effingham. After Green Mountain Treatment Center the road turns into a Class VI unmaintained road, and the trailhead is about 20 yards down with a nice area for parking.
