Sermon: “Joyful Servanthood” from Marc Swenson

Dan Mitchum - September 24, 2023

Joy in the Worst of Times

In Philippians, Paul commands us to “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” [4:4] Paul penned those words—not from a luxury apartment—but from a prison cell. How could he be so joyful while in jail? Because Paul didn’t live “under the circumstances.” He lived with his eyes on Jesus, and he knew God was at work even in the worst of times. Are you experiencing a problem or a tough situation right now? Are you rejoicing—not in your struggle—but rejoicing in the Lord? Paul will set a joyful example we can all follow.
