A sermon from the series “Hebrews: JESUS IS GREATER.” It’s easy for our hearts to drift to lesser things than Jesus… to worship the lesser gods we find in this world, rather than the One true God. That’s one of the warnings given to us in the book of Hebrews. As we gather for worship this Sunday, we’ll find that the antidote to drift is not doing more, but having a greater knowledge and therefore a greater love of the One who made us, sustains us, saves us, and will reign over us for all of eternity. Join us as we discover the fullness of Jesus in a way you may not have understood him before.

A sermon from the series “Hebrews: JESUS IS GREATER.” On a warm Southern California day in June 2002, Richard Van Pham set out in his 26-foot sailboat from Long Beach harbor to Catalina Island. The three-hour voyage turned into a three-month journey of desolation and survival. His ordeal started when a storm broke the boat’s mast, rendered the communication system inoperable, and ruined the outboard motor. Thankfully, van Pham was rescued when a Navy plane spotted the drifting vessel almost 300 miles off the coast of Costa Rica.
The Book of Hebrews will warn us of the dangers of spiritual drift. It can happen to any of us. Hebrews 2:1-9 will tell us to anchor our lives on God and His Word. Please come ready to hear how you can escape the danger of drifting away from the Lord.

A sermon from the series “Hebrews: JESUS IS GREATER.” We call Jesus ‘Lord’ because He is greater than us. We call Him ‘Savior’ because He is our redeemer. But what does Jesus call us? Amazingly, He calls us ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’ [Hebrews 2:11-12]. We are Jesus’ siblings because, in becoming flesh and blood, He identifies with us in every way. Join us as we see Jesus as the great big brother who accepts us, protects us, sacrifices for us, and is never ashamed of us!
