CloseThe Bible tells us to “Always be joyful” [1 Thessalonians 5:16]. Really? Always? We’re to rejoice even when inflation is at 7.7 percent? Yes, be joyful. Even when it seems our country is hopelessly divided politically and morally? Yes, be joyful. Even when we personally experience trials and tribulations? Yes, be joyful even then. Why? Because joy isn’t dependent upon our circumstances. Our joy is in the Lord. We’ll celebrate the joy we have in Jesus. He alone fills us with “an inexpressible and glorious joy” [1 Peter 1:8b] that transcends all of our earthly troubles.
