Sermon: “Wisdom 101” from Dan Mitchum

Dan Mitchum - July 9, 2023

Wisdom 101

Before Google, people visited the local library to find answers to pressing questions. A few years ago, the staff at the New York Public Library discovered a box of cards containing questions posed to the librarian by members of the public. People wanted to know: What does it mean when you dream you’re being chased by an elephant? Why do 18th Century English paintings have so many squirrels in them? If a poisonous snake bites itself, will it die? One person just wanted to know how to put up wallpaper. “I have the paper; I have the paste. What do I do next? Does the paste go on the wall or the paper? I've tried both, and it doesn't seem to work.” Tomorrow, Solomon will answer some of the most pressing questions we face. Questions like: How should I respond when someone is angry with me? What do I do when my boss mistreats me? How can I better control the words that come out of my mouth? How can I succeed in life? Join us tomorrow as the Teacher answers these and other questions.

From Series: "Ecclesiastes: The Secret of Life"

This week we start a new sermon series on one of the most puzzling books of the Bible. Ecclesiastes was written by a man searching for the secret of life. Hoping to find the answer, he experimented with everything life has to offer. He threw amazing parties, built breathtaking buildings, amassed incredible wealth—and that’s just for starters. He denied himself nothing his eyes desired and refused his heart no pleasure. And what did he discover?
