About the Young Adult Ministry

Mission

The mission of the Young Adult Ministry is to invest in young adults here at home by equipping them with the Gospel and building relationships in Christian community. We exist to cultivate a discipleship community truly centered on God’s Word — a community that serves as both a catalyst for personal spiritual growth and a source of encouragement, support, ministry, and mission.

Vision

Our vision is to see young adults rooted deeply in Scripture, growing in authentic Christian community, and living faithfully on mission for Christ in everyday life. We desire to create a welcoming and discipleship-focused environment where young adults are invited, supported, challenged, and equipped to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

We believe the church is stronger when believers work together across congregations, encouraging one another toward spiritual maturity, service, leadership, and Gospel-centered living.

Values

  • Gospel-Centered Living — Jesus and the Gospel are at the center of everything we do.

  • Inter-Church Cooperation — We value unity and partnership among biblical churches throughout our region.

  • Welcoming Community — We seek to create a place where people are known, welcomed, and genuinely cared for.

  • Intentional Discipleship — Spiritual growth happens through investment, mentorship, encouragement, and accountability.

  • Commitment to God’s Word — We challenge ourselves to dig deeply into Scripture and apply it faithfully.

  • Authenticity & Vulnerability — We value honesty, humility, accountability, and real relationships.

  • Presence of the Holy Spirit — We rely on the Spirit’s guidance, conviction, and empowerment.

  • Mission & Local Engagement — We want to actively love and serve the local community.

  • Teamwork & Leadership Development — We believe in investing in others and raising up new leaders.

What We Hope to Cultivate

The Young Adult Ministry is designed to help young adults:

  • Grow in their relationship with Jesus.

  • Build authentic Christian friendships and accountability.

  • Be encouraged and equipped in discipleship.

  • Develop a deeper understanding of Scripture.

  • Serve and engage in ministry locally.

  • Invite and invest in others.

  • Become leaders who disciple and encourage future generations.

We also seek to create a culture where community extends beyond scheduled programs — where people regularly pray for one another, spend time together, encourage one another, and live life together throughout the week.
Joseph Wasson

Joseph’s journey with FCCO began in childhood, growing up in both the Children’s Ministry and Student Ministries. In 2018, he entered into a season of one-on-one mentoring with former Director of Student Ministry, Joel, which—together with his time serving at Camp Sentinel—helped confirm God’s call on his life to minister to students and young adults.

He went on to attend Gordon College, where he met his wife, Alicia, and graduated in 2022 with a B.A. in Christian Ministries and a minor in Biblical Studies. Both Joseph and Alicia share a deep passion for seeing God transform the lives of students and young adults, and they are eager to serve and invest in the FCCO family.

In this new season of ministry, Joseph and Alicia hold close the promise of Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

On Sunday, March 22, there will be one 9:00 service only. If you aren't able to join us in person, the service will be streamed live at 9:00 at www.firstossipee.org/live.
