About Student Ministries

Mission

FCCO Student Ministries exists to help teens (grades 7-12) have a lifelong faith by knowing and following Jesus, loving their neighbors, and serving and actively sharing their faith with those around them.

Everything we do flows from FCCO’s larger mission: to glorify God by following Jesus, loving God and others, and sharing the Gospel. We desire to help each student take their first or next step with Jesus through authentic relationships, intentional discipleship, and active involvement in the life of the church.

Vision

We want to see students knowing and following Jesus for their entire lives, loving their neighbors, and serving and actively sharing their faith with those around them. Our vision is for students to develop a faith that lasts beyond graduation — one rooted in God’s Word, strengthened through Christian community, and lived out in everyday life.

We believe students grow best when they are connected not only to peers, but also to caring adult leaders and the larger church family. The more meaningful relationships students have within the church, the stronger the foundation for lifelong faith.

Values

  • Gospel-Centered & Life-Applicable — We want students to know the Gospel deeply and see how it shapes everyday life.

  • Intentional Discipleship — We invest personally in students to help them grow in their walk with Christ. We believe in raising up Christ-like students and leaders who invest in others and make a Kingdom impact.

  • Supporting Parents — We believe that parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children, and we desire to help each parent be confident and competent in their parenting.

  • Biblical Teaching — We challenge students to dig into God’s Word and build a faith rooted in Scripture.

  • Authentic Relationships — We value honest, vulnerable, accountable, and meaningful Christian community. We want every student to feel known and welcome, regardless of church background.

  • Part of the Church — We believe students are not the Church of tomorrow, but equally a part of the Church today!

  • Service & Mission — We encourage students to serve others, love their neighbors, and actively share their faith.

What We Hope Students Experience

We want students to:

  • Take meaningful next steps with Jesus.

  • Build strong relationships with Christian peers and adult mentors.

  • Engage actively in the life of the church.

  • Grow in spiritual disciplines and biblical understanding.

  • Serve others selflessly like Christ.

  • Learn to share and live out their faith confidently.
Joseph Wasson

Joseph’s journey with FCCO began in childhood, growing up in both the Children’s Ministry and Student Ministries. In 2018, he entered into a season of one-on-one mentoring with former Director of Student Ministry, Joel, which—together with his time serving at Camp Sentinel—helped confirm God’s call on his life to minister to students and young adults.

He went on to attend Gordon College, where he met his wife, Alicia, and graduated in 2022 with a B.A. in Christian Ministries and a minor in Biblical Studies. Both Joseph and Alicia share a deep passion for seeing God transform the lives of students and young adults, and they are eager to serve and invest in the FCCO family.

In this new season of ministry, Joseph and Alicia hold close the promise of Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

On Sunday, March 22, there will be one 9:00 service only. If you aren't able to join us in person, the service will be streamed live at 9:00 at www.firstossipee.org/live.

The Beast Feast has been postponed to Thursday, August 1, from 5:00-8:30 pm!

Due to the forecasted snow & ice, Dinner Bell has been canceled for Saturday, March 29.

Due to the upcoming storm, Wednesday evening groups and classes have been canceled. Life's Healing Choices will begin April 10.
