Sermon: “The Comfort of the Holy Spirit” from Marc Swenson

Marc Swenson - November 3, 2024

The Comfort of the Holy Spirit

“I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and now there’s gum in my hair…” It went from bad to worse in the book “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.” Have you ever had a day like that? Or maybe it’s been a week, a month, or an even longer season where the challenges and struggles of life are relentless in their assault? The disciples certainly did. The worst day of their lives was the day Jesus shared He was going to leave them. But his leaving was actually for their good. Join us Sunday as we learn about the comfort we can find in the worst of days through the gift Christ gave when he left.

Scripture References: John 14:15-27

From Series: "The Holy Spirit"

Many Christians throughout the ages have struggled to understand the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Our attention often focuses on God the Father and Christ the Son. But as the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is also deserving of our praise, worship, and obedience. Our prayer for this new sermon series is that we won’t just gain a biblical understanding of the Spirit—we also want to experience Him in a fresh way. Throughout this eleven-week series, we’ll explore the person and power of the Spirit, His role as our sanctifier and teacher, the fruit and gifts of the Spirit, what it means to grieve and quench the Spirit, how to keep in step with Him, and more. Please join us for this life-changing series.
