The Word: Not of Men but of God
March 15, 2026
The faith landscape in the U.S. is constantly changing. In his study, American Worldview Inventory 2023-2025, veteran researcher George Barna aimed to determine what born-again Christians truly believe. By “born-again Christians,” Barna means they believe they will go to heaven after they die, but only because they have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.
One shocking discovery was believers’ attitudes toward the Bible. While 85 percent say they are deeply committed to their faith, only 55 percent read or study the Bible at least once a week!
In 1 Thessalonians 2:13-16, Paul will remind us that the Bible is not of human origin but of God. When we ignore the Bible, we block ourselves from hearing God’s voice. And how much we need to hear—and obey—His voice in a world that constantly demands our attention. Join us as we return to the majesty and miracle of God’s Word working in our lives.

King Joash
King Joash went from “…did what was right in the eyes of the Lord…” to “abandoned the temple of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols.” How could a king, brought up in the temple, mentored by the priest Jehoiada, who followed the ways of the Lord, so quickly turn away and abandon the Lord? Sunday, we’ll dive in and see why Joash went from honoring the Lord to abandoning him so quickly and what it means for our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Scripture References: 2 Chronicles 24:1-27
From Series: "The Crown"
We’ll spend August studying the lives of five of Israel’s kings. Their stories are fascinating and unforgettable. We’ll watch as Joash’s own grandmother attempts to assassinate him. We’ll see King Saul’s kingdom slip away simply for losing his patience. We’ll watch 80 courageous priests confront King Uzziah for defiling God’s Temple. We’ll learn why Manasseh was not only the wickedest king in Israel but in the whole world. And we’ll celebrate the coronation of eight-year-old Josiah—the only truly good king of the bunch. Whether good or bad, these kings pale in comparison to King Jesus, who we'll come back to week after week. God has much to teach us from each of them. Join us for this exciting and life-changing study of God’s Word.
