How to Please God
In the first part of Paul’s letter to the recently planted church of Thessalonica, he spent a lot of time looking to the past. He reminded these new Christians of God’s faithfulness even amid affliction and encouraged them to continue on the path of faith, love, and hope. Now, in the second part of his letter, Paul points them to the future. Not only does he answer important questions about the Second Coming and the believer’s salvation from the coming wrath, but he also issues a wake-up call to dozing disciples who need to be ready for Christ’s return. In other words, he teaches them what it takes to please God.
