Jehovah Jireh: The Lord is Our Provider

Among the more than 100 names and titles for God in the Bible, Jehovah Jireh is one of the most encouraging for believers. Jehovah Jireh is a compound name—it means God sees and provides. He’s aware of our needs before we are. He sees our burdens, grief, financial struggles, family concerns, and hidden tears. Nothing surprises Him. Nothing escapes His attention. And nothing can keep Him from delivering us from the troubles we face. Join us tomorrow as we see how the Lord provided for Abraham when he needed it most. The God who was faithful to Abraham is the same God who provides for us today.

Scripture References: Genesis 22:1-14

From Series: "Hallowed Be Thy Names"

Shakespeare famously asked, “What’s in a name?” Modern culture often answers, “Not much.” Scripture, however, gives a very different answer. In the Old Testament, naming a child was much more than picking a pretty word. A name signified the essence, character, or nature of a person. The same is true of God. Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself through more than one hundred names and descriptive titles. Each name unveils something of His character, His power, and His faithfulness, often emerging in moments when His people needed Him most. Throughout the rest of the summer, we'll explore eight of these names, discovering how each one helps us know God more deeply and respond to Him with greater love, trust, and reverence.
