We live in a world torn by conflict. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, around 130 armed conflicts are being fought around the world today, including more than a dozen major wars. We see many of these conflicts unfolding before our eyes. But another kind of conflict often goes unnoticed—the battles being waged within our own hearts. No peace treaty or ceasefire agreement can end these inner battles. Only Jesus, our Savior and Prince of Peace, can quiet the turmoil within us and give us a peace that surpasses understanding. Join us as we hear Gideon declare a profound truth about the character of God: He is Jehovah Shalom—the Lord is our peace.

Shakespeare famously asked, “What’s in a name?” Modern culture often answers, “Not much.” Scripture, however, gives a very different answer. In the Old Testament, naming a child was much more than picking a pretty word. A name signified the essence, character, or nature of a person. The same is true of God. Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself through more than one hundred names and descriptive titles. Each name unveils something of His character, His power, and His faithfulness, often emerging in moments when His people needed Him most. Throughout the rest of the summer, we'll explore eight of these names, discovering how each one helps us know God more deeply and respond to Him with greater love, trust, and reverence.
