Sermon: “All We Have Is His” from Dan Mitchum

Dan Mitchum - September 20, 2026

All We Have Is His

When are we most likely to forget the Lord? During times of trials and suffering? Actually, no. We’re often most tempted to forget God when life is going well—when our needs are met, and we’re enjoying a season of abundance. Just before Israel entered the Promised Land, God warned them of the danger that comes when dreams come true. They might look at their blessings and think, “I did this. I earned this. I made this happen.” They could easily forget that God provided it all. We need that same reminder today. When life is difficult, we run to God for help. But when life is good, we can begin to live as though we don’t need Him. Everything we have comes from God. Every blessing, every opportunity, every resource, every breath is a gift from His hand. We don’t own it all—we’ve simply been entrusted with it. The truth is, all we have is His.

From Series: "For Generations to Come"

This is an exciting season in the life of FCCO! This fall, we’re launching For Generations to Come—a capital campaign designed to create physical spaces where ministry can flourish, lives can be changed, and people can grow as followers of Jesus for years to come. Psalm 78:4, 6 captures the heart behind this vision: “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done… so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.” For generations, faithful people have prayed, served, sacrificed, and given so that we could experience the ministry we enjoy at FCCO today. Now it’s our turn. We’ll explore how each of us can be part of what God is doing—not simply by building for today, but by investing in people we may never meet. Join us each Sunday this fall as we discover how our giving, serving, sharing, hope, and priorities can leave a legacy of faith For Generations to Come.
