Who Has Your Heart?
What is the greatest danger facing Western Christianity today? According to pastor Tim Keller and theologian Craig Blomberg, it isn’t Marxism, Islam, the New Age movement, or humanism. It’s something far more subtle—and far more pervasive: the materialism of our affluent culture. Really? Really. Materialism is an inordinate desire for—or dependence upon—money and material things. And tomorrow, Jesus warns us that materialism does more than tempt us to spend too much. It can blind us spiritually. It can distort the way we see what really matters. And, ultimately, it can become our master. So what’s the antidote? Put God first. Hold loosely to what He has given us. And give generously. Because Jesus tells us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

From Series: "For Generations to Come"
This is an exciting season in the life of FCCO! This fall, we’re launching For Generations to Come—a capital campaign designed to create physical spaces where ministry can flourish, lives can be changed, and people can grow as followers of Jesus for years to come. Psalm 78:4, 6 captures the heart behind this vision: “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done… so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.” For generations, faithful people have prayed, served, sacrificed, and given so that we could experience the ministry we enjoy at FCCO today. Now it’s our turn. We’ll explore how each of us can be part of what God is doing—not simply by building for today, but by investing in people we may never meet. Join us each Sunday this fall as we discover how our giving, serving, sharing, hope, and priorities can leave a legacy of faith For Generations to Come.
