Growing in Faith
Imagine you’re crossing a lake in a boat. You’re not alone. Jesus is with you, along with a dozen of His most faithful followers. With Jesus on board, you assume it will be smooth sailing. But then a fierce storm strikes, and waves crash into the boat. Everyone is terrified—that is, except Jesus. He’s sound asleep! You join the others in a panicked plea for Jesus to wake up. When He does, He puts a question to you and your traveling companions. “Why are you afraid?” He asks, “O you of little faith?” Then, at His command, the winds and the sea calm down. Is your faith in Christ growing, or are you a person of “little faith”? Faith is a relationship of trust with God, and like all relationships, it is a living, dynamic, growing thing. Today, Paul will challenge us to have a faith that is flourishing—one that can withstand even the severest storms.
