Yahweh (Jehovah)
Time is a funny thing. It can cause us to idealize the past—or slowly forget it. After generations in Egypt, the God of their ancestors had become distant to many of the Israelites. But in the story of Moses and the burning bush, God draws near and reveals himself in a fresh and personal way. Join us as we discover the name of God and the beautiful way he meets his people in their deepest need.
Scripture References: Exodus 3:1-15

From Series: "Hallowed Be Thy Names"
Shakespeare famously asked, “What’s in a name?” Modern culture often answers, “Not much.” Scripture, however, gives a very different answer. In the Old Testament, naming a child was much more than picking a pretty word. A name signified the essence, character, or nature of a person. The same is true of God. Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself through more than one hundred names and descriptive titles. Each name unveils something of His character, His power, and His faithfulness, often emerging in moments when His people needed Him most. Throughout the rest of the summer, we'll explore eight of these names, discovering how each one helps us know God more deeply and respond to Him with greater love, trust, and reverence.
